The Longest Yarn Welshpool
Britain at War examines how Britain navigated World War II. from the declaration of war on 3rd September 1939 to VE Day on 8th May 1945. This includes significant events such as D-Day, the King’s Speech, The Blitz, the bombing of major cities, Britain coping with the war – the Home Guard, the Women’s Land Army, rationing, and much more. The 3D wool art display will feature 80 panels. In addition, there will be life-size knitted displays representing real people such as army leaders and land girls.
Founder Tansy Forster and her fellow knitters and crocheters from across the UK and beyond have created this new installation. This follows on from the great success of The Longest Yarn, an 80 metre wool art depiction of the D-Day landings, which toured the UK last year and has just returned from touring America.
