Whittington Castle

Whittington Castle, postcode SY11 4DF, is about a mile from the northern end of the Oswestry bypass.

Access to the Castle itself is free, and there appears to be ample parking nearby. Parking is charged at £2.00, via a Pay & Display machine.

As you may know, the Castle is now a ruin, but there appears to be an excellent café on site, together with some very pleasant grounds to explore. And, of course, there are the ducks on the duck pond, if that is your thing!

The Castle has a rich and fascinating history, dating back to the early Norman period, with numerous encounters and exchanges between Welsh and English protagonists during the 12th and 13th centuries.

We will meet at the Castle at 2.00 pm.
